"here I go again"... AKA: re: re: The Last Move

In which I again drive myself crazy, and do the exact opposite of what I intended to do in the first place.

And yes, after a couple of months happily blogging from my desktop with Hugo, and having had already one week of vacation I follow my usual routine, spent the inevitable "Stupid Amount of Time" and changed everything and then some.

Step 1

I switched all my journaling and task-management back to where I feel most comfortable (I guess, at the least) to my pen/paper setup, albeit slightly evolved, better now I would like to say, but still.

Step 2

Moving the blog. This time to Ghost hosted on Magic Pages.

Because?!

Well, first of all, I read about Jack's recent experiences with Ghost - especially I am intrigued about the whole Activity Pub thing. I have de-facto left social media about a month (or so, maybe even more) ago and the idea of somewhat naturally connecting to the Fediverse via my blog, thus making the blog my ONE-PLACE - the ONE-TO-RULE-THEM-ALL so to say - is more than just intriguing.

Also having a blogging-platform that I can use without having to fiddle/built a "blogging-workflow", with a really nice editor, had long been on my mind. I already considered to use Ghost on Pika.Pods before doing the Hugo thing, but I from my understanding that doesn't yet support the whole Fediverse thing.

I have used Ghost in the past quite a bit (well... of course I have) right after Ghost went public following the Kickstarter campain, whenever that had been, and following that I used Ghost for quite some time back then. Eventually shied away from it when Ghost increased it's pricing to an amount that seemed unreasonable for this little blog of mine and then continued the journey of mine.

💡
Somehow I couldn't just leave this as is and found the markdown file of an old post from 2013. I think I might have used Ghost for the first time some time after that. Here's the post.

Step 3

I will, of course, move my recent entries to this blog, because it seems that I can't stand to have a vacation, and since my journal/task-management and even the pen-situation (more on that in a future post) had been solved (I hope a the least) I have mild hopes that I will eventually be able to settle on one simple setup (haha, that's a good one).

The latter though I will figure out eventually. And yes, I am totally aware that I have said this plenty before.

In the process I had to slightly change the domain, since my domain host doesn't support CNAME root-leveldomains to the ever so slightly longer www.svbck.org. Maybe it is time to come up with a new domain-host at some point.

So, if you are so inclined you can follow this blog/me via:

  • @sven@svbck.org on Mastodon/Activity Pub
