A Mono-spaced confession
Found this on blog which I recently discovered and felt kind of caught.
… Your nerd lives in a monospaced typeface world. Whereas everyone else is traipsing around picking dazzling fonts to describe their world, your nerd has carefully selected a monospace typeface… The reason for this typeface selection is, of course, practicality. Monospace typefaces have a knowable width. Ten letters on one line are same width as ten other letters The Nerd Handbook
And yes, mine is Nitti Light which comes with iA Writer. And then there’s of course DejaVu Sans Mono, or was it Cousin. Yet another positive (in my opinion) side effect of using monospaced fonts for writing, is the illusion of actually writing fast. Using a rather large monospaced font (like for example in iA Writer), the lines fill up very quickly, and I find this not only motivating, but it also somehow keeps my thoughts flowing and makes me think faster. It just somehow feels much more effective to write this way. On a similar topic you might want to have a look at this article on Hivelogic. Maybe I need to get out and do some photography. Well, soon it’s spring again.
